Underwood Farms Pumpkin Patch

It's funny how once you have a kid there are just certain traditions you feel you have to do. One of those things is going to a pumpkin patch! Our weekends have been crazy with birthday parties and family events, so we decided to go on Friday afternoon. We drove out to Underwood Farms  in Moorpark, and there were a lot of cute little activities for kids to do. On weekends, there's even more activities, but it does get crowded. Leah fed animals, rode on the train, went down the tractor slide, played on the playground, jumped in the bounce house, and picked out our pumpkins. We went through the corn maze too, but she eventually got tired of it, and we had to use the map to figure our way out. :)

Afterwards, Matt's good friend, who lives a couple miles away, invited us to their Halloween party. There were a ton of other kids around, and Leah totally enjoyed herself. It was a perfect end to our Friday!

Happy 4th Anniversary!

The celebrations keep on coming! Today, Matt and I are celebrating 4 years of marriage. Time is flying by, and our family has grown and is continuing to grow. Each year has been able to get better and better, and even as we face big changes in our lives, we've been able to come together as a team and find laughter and silliness in everything.

Matt, I am thankful for you everyday. You laugh at my random songs and dance moves, you always eat and compliment the food I make even if I didn't think it tasted good, and you are so playful and active with Leah. God has blessed our family so richly, and watching you as a father just melts my heart. I couldn't imagine having a better partner in this life. Happy Anniversary!! I love you!

23 Months!

Wow... does Leah really turn 2 next month?  My munchkin is developing her own little personality which is full of opinions, jokes, and wants. It's fun to see what aspects of her probably came from me or from Matt, and I can already sense the 2s are going to be very interesting. Here are some updates.
  • She's always been a girly girl, but it's showing up more clearly in the past month. She tells us she wants to wear the pink shoes or the bow shoes, and she also loves to walk in mommy's Jimmy Choo shoes. Uh oh, sorry future husband. ;)  She also walks around the house carrying her purse and wearing her bracelets.
  • We really have to be careful about what we say around her and be aware of conversations around us when we're in public. She will hear a word or phrase once and immediately start repeating it. Needless to say, there may be a phrase or word we hope doesn't stick. At the same time, she continues to pick up new words constantly and can say 5-7 word sentences often. Some of her baby words have also changed, like Whoa-Whoa is now Doggie and Ah-Ah is now Monkey. She's can also now almost fully sing the ABCs and Twinkle Twinkle.
  • I've also noticed how improved her coordination is. She can walk up and down stairs and climb up steps for the slide all on her own. Her running really looks like running now, and luckily, I'm still faster than her!
Leah: I can't believe my next monthly update post will be celebrating your 2nd birthday. You are loving, affectionate, sweet, and also stubborn, spunky, and mischievous. I love how you cuddle up next to me when you watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and how you tilt your head and put your face right in my face and say "Hi, Mommy!" We are constantly amazed at the new words you say and funny things you do. Mommy and Daddy often ask each other "Did you teach her that?" Happy 23 Months, baby girl! I love you so much!! xoxo Mommy

A Boomers Birthday Party

"Playing" Deal or No Deal

We drove down to Orange County last Saturday to celebrate my niece's 5th birthday at Boomers. We prepped Leah that morning to say "Happy Birthday, Alyssa!" and discovered she already knew the song! She must have learned that from her day care.

Happy Birthday, Matt!!

Happy Birthday to the most amazing husband and father! We are so blessed to have you as the rock of our family!

Yesterday, we celebrated my niece's 5th birthday, and then my parents watched Leah in the evening so we could go to dinner for Matt's birthday. We ate a delicious meal at Anjin in Costa Mesa. The meat here is incredible, and everyone knows it! We got there 10 minutes before the restaurant opened and still had to wait 45 minutes! Today was a bit more low key, we started the morning off at church then brunch and family time. We had a great weekend, and I will post pictures of the birthday party this week!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Zimmer Children's Museum

Trying to convince her it was time to leave

On Friday, I took Leah to Zimmer Children's Museum in Los Angeles. It reminded me of a miniature Pretend City, and Leah enjoyed every minute of her time there. It was difficult taking pictures with my iPhone, because she kept moving around!

It's 2 stories with the main activities on the bottom level. There are a couple water tables, a large ship ball pit, an ambulance van to walk through, a mini airplane to walk through, and a make believe street with a grocery store, home, book store, bagel cafe, and park. It even has a little baby/toddler bounce room to give the little ones a safe place to play if the museum happens to be crowded with bigger kids.

Every morning and afternoon they offer free programs that are open to the public. The day we went it was Sing-a-long day. The kids sang songs and got to play instruments. I was actually surprised that Leah sat through the whole thing and made friends at the same time. We'll definitely be back!

We've Got Ears....Say Cheers!

I was craving clam chowder soup all day!

Is it Thursday already? This week is flying by. I've been meaning to post some photos of our recent trip to Disneyland last Friday. Matt had the day off and got to go with us. Activities are so much more fun with the whole family. We also finally got Leah a set of ears. Surprisingly, she was ecstatic to wear them! As I mentioned in Leah's 22 months post, she's obsessed with all things Mickey and Minnie. Every time we walked by a picture, character, and/or statue she would yell "Ickey! Minnie Mice!" You can imagine how often we heard that.

I hope everyone is having a great week!

22 Months!

Time has slipped away from me, and I'm a couple weeks late posting Leah's 22 months update! She is full of life and personality, and even though I'm exhausted by the end of the day, she is so much fun to be around. Here are some updates:

  • She's taking after her mommy and picking up some ballet moves. Okay, maybe I'm forcing them upon her. She'll do a plie, arabesque, and tendu with me, and if you ask her to dance, she'll wiggle and jump around in circles. Also, when she sees the ballet picture on her flashcards, she says "Mommy dance?"
  • Her verbal skills continue to grow everyday. She surprises me with new words and sentences constantly. She can sing most of the ABC song, skipping about 8 letters. She can count 1-10, although sometimes she skips over 7.
  • She's obsessed with Minnie Mouse. She now sleeps with a Minnie Mouse doll and carries it around the house, always wants to watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and requests to see Minnie whenever we go to Disneyland.
  • She's great at playing with other kids! It's be so fun watching her play with her cousins independently and even at the park she will walk up to other kids and engage with them. When her friends are happy, she'll laugh with them, and when they're sad or hurt, she'll empathize with them. It's been amazing watching her develop in this area.
Leah: It is incredible to watch you grow.  Every day you amaze us with how much you know and understand, and how quickly you learn new things.  You are a very sweet little girl and play very nicely with your friends.  Your words are becoming more and more clear, and you are not afraid to tell us exactly what you want!  You also have a great little sense of humor and are constantly making us laugh.  You are such a big part of our family and we are so blessed to have you in our lives.  We love you sooo much! Love, Daddy
