San Diego 2014

We decided to take a family vacation before Leah started preschool, and it would be Ava's first trip away from home. We booked 3 nights at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, and I was excited and nervous all at the same time! Our friends with kids the same ages as Leah and Ava also joined us, so Leah could not stop talking about how she was going on vacation with her friend.

We booked a junior suite which happened to actually come with a separate living room area. The Del provided a "pack and play" and mini crib for the girls to sleep in. This would be the first time the girls slept in the same room together, and fortunately, it went well! Besides waking up a little earlier than normal, I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't have to wake up in the middle of the night to tend to either of them. {I was happy to have them back in their separate rooms once we got home though!}

Ava's first time in the water! She loved it!

We pretty much spent all day, everyday at the pool and beach. The kids were having so much fun swimming and playing...

... that they ended up passing out for 2 hours in the funniest positions!

The Del had a cute s'mores roast on the beach where they set up a bonfire and provide the crackers, chocolate, and marshmallows. The kids might have had a major sugar high afterwards. :)

While I wouldn't say the trip was relaxing, we had a lot of fun. In particular, it was nice to have another family where the dads could play with the older kids, and the moms could hang back with the babies. Leah still talks about wanting to stay in the hotel and can't wait to take more trips with her buddies!

Rancho Bernardo Inn

We've been in San Diego since Sunday using our gift from the Ellen show!

Leah's first time using a golf club

The Rancho Bernardo Inn is a very peaceful resort and very kid friendly. In the summer, you can purchase a KidsRule! package that provides activities such as cookie decorating, dive-in movies, treasure hunts, "kids eat free," and much more. There is also a Kids Club room that provides coloring tools, toys, and video games. There is a separate pool for families where they show the movies that has a bunch of water toys provided.

Spa pool

With our package, we received a round of golf and a spa massage. Matt enjoyed his round of golf and said the course was beautiful, and I thoroughly enjoyed my massage. I received my treatment in one of their outdoor, temperature-controlled, casitas where I could hear the peaceful sounds of the water fall. Afterwards, I took a dip in the saline spa pool. The view was gorgeous. I was so relaxed afterwards that I had a hard time walking up the little hill back to the room!

Half a glass of wine and my face is a cherry tomato!

Leah had the most fun just exploring the facilities, swimming in the pool {sometimes twice a day!}, and getting her first experience with golf. After dinner each night, she happily ran around on the putting green for 15-20 minutes with other kids. She was a big hit with all the little boys too! At the pool, 2 boys kept running around finding toys for her to play with, picking them up for her when she threw them, and entertaining her with handstands and flips in the water. They even brought a baby life vest and tried to convince her to put it on for her safety. That same day after dinner, a 2 year old boy gave her a gigantic hug and kiss! So sweet - although, I'm not sure daddy would approve! ;)

We also checked out the San Diego Zoo Safari Park which I will go into more detail in the next post! Stay tuned!

Family Reunion

Baby Crocs are the cutest!

Over the weekend, we drove down to San Diego for a little family reunion. Matt's brother's family is visiting for the week, so we had the whole Kelly family together. We stayed at the Hotel del Coronado, which has become our favorite hotel in SD. We stayed in a junior suite, which was perfect for our mobile toddler. Leah had plenty of room to run around and explore. There are so many other kids running around the resort which kept Leah throughly entertained.

Leah could live on the beach if we let her. She was so fascinated with the sand and water that we couldn't get her to look up for a picture!

Sunday, we all hung out at the house for lunch. The cousins are the sweetest with Leah. The girl cousins spent the entire time hanging out with her. When I look at them all sitting next to each other, they actually all do look like they're related!

Leah had so much fun that she pretty much passed out the minute we got in the car to go home. FamilyReunion Part 2 coming up this weekend in Los Angeles!
